Tomenthypnum nitens
The costate, plicate, straight leaves with linear cells are diagnostic for this common species of rich fens. Tomenthypnum falcifolium is similar but has falcate-secund leaves; it occurs in poor fens. In arctic meadows Orthothecium chryseum occurs, but is distinguished by ecostate leaves.
